Blurb: For gorgeous lawyer Nick Gilbert, an after-hours rendezvous with a woman usually means a romantic dinner, not a children's charity picnic. But he's game!
Especially as his date is his rather prim but intriguing colleague, Carolyn Duff.... Watching her with the little kids, Nick sees a new side of Carolyn. He starts to understand the glimmer of sadness behind her dazzling green gaze. When the real woman behind the all-business facade is laid bare, Nick has never seen anyone more beautiful....
I just didn't like this story. I considered not finishing the book, but I like Ms Jump's books so I kept with it. The blurb is slightly misleading in that there is no mention of the history between Nick and Carolyn. And that history is in the forefront of the story from the first page. My main problem was both Nick and Carolyn. They ran away from each other and their feelings, blamed each other for their own failings, or just ignored what was in front of them. There was little wooing on either side. In fact if it wasn't for a handful of kissing scenes I'd have said they didn't like each other despite their words to the otherwise. When they hooked up in the end I was more like 'Finally!' than 'WooHoo HEA'.

blurbs
I really wonder about the burbs sometimes. Lately I have read more blurbs, from more than just Harlequin too, that have very little to do with the actual book. Sometimes, I think the blurbs just do a disfavor to the books by appealing to one kind of reader when the actual book would appeal to another. I know I have read some silly blurbs that I think "Yuk" and would have missed a book that blew me away. What I really do not like is when the blurb gives away too much---which is really horrible with mysteries!

blurbs
I've noticed the same with blurbs recently too. I can't help but wonder what sparked the trend for spoilers. I don't doubt I've missed out on some good books thanks to misleading blurbs, it could be why I haven't been buying new authors recently.
