A fortune sucked dry, and a heart that may soon will be....
Maggie finds herself penniless and at the mercy of Brazilian tycoon Caleb Cameron when her stepfather dies shortly after learning that Caleb sucked all of his millions of dollars dry. A ruthless and abusive man, Maggie's stepfather once used Maggie in a sordid attempt to seduce Caleb in order to steal his finances. The plan backfired when Maggie, roped into it on the threat of danger to her mother, refused at the last minute to go throught with the vile seduction. Not understanding that Maggie was innocently trying to protect her mother, Caleb believes her to be cruel and money-grubbing. Still, Caleb lustfully desires her, and when she begs him to let her mother (who'd been subjected to secret spousal-abuse) keep the house that she'd unwittingly lost through her husband's trickery, Caleb seeks his opportunity to make Maggie an offer that nearly sends her through the roof. In order for her poor mother to keep her house, Maggie has to be Caleb's mistress for two months!
What at first is a horrible experience to Maggie soon becomes bittersweet as she can't deny in her heart that she's in love with Caleb. Caleb still thinks she's a conniving little bi*ch, and can't understand why, in spite of the fact, he craves her so much. And why aren't things adding up in this situation? Is Maggie, or isn't she, guilty as sin?
Maggie's pride and Caleb's arrogance could make or break this relationship. And you'll have to read the rest for yourself.....
*The one issue I have with Presents is that the whole billionaire alpha-male is sometimes a little over-the-top, but, hey, it's entertainment, not real life. And that's really why we read - to be entertained. I love books, period!
