The Bridegroom’s Secret by Melissa James, Harlequin Romance Sep08 #4047

Matt MacLachlan grew up in the life of privilege, great expectations and a firm knowledge of his place in that life. Julia Montgomery was more of a free spirit. She falls in love moments after falling at his feet. But falling a year of feeling like she placed last in his life she decides there will be no wedding. Will they take that walk down the isle?

This is the last book in ‘The Wedding Planners’ series. I found myself racing to the conclusion of this book and this series while trying to drag my feet. But James does not let the reader linger. She writes with such heartfelt longing and regret that the reader is drawn rapidly through the pages. I enjoyed all of this series, but something about this book made it my favorite. Thumbs up!

Thank you!

Nancy, I'm so glad you enjoyed the book! That one came slow and hard with moving to Europe (so I really felt Julie's homesickness and loneliness for family and a familiar accent). This was a lovely review and made my day. Thanks again!

Ahh, so that's what made it

Ahh, so that's what made it so very special, you wrote out your own longing for family into the piece. Julia just came off the page for me and I loved the way Matt was so clueless, but finally realized he was clueless and needed to do something about it, soon.

Thanks again!

Yes, I really understood the loneliness of the expat's life when writing TBS...I miss my daughters something awful, my best friend, my mother. So all that went in. And I could make Matt clueless because *I* was until I'd been in that world. So easy to not think of things we don't understand. Wink

I am looking forward to this

I am looking forward to this one.  I am so behind on my HR reads right now but have loved this series so far.  There were a lot of Ex-pats living in Bermuda.  Now you really make me anxious to get moving on my TBR.

I enjoyed this whole series,

I enjoyed this whole series, but hands down, this was my favorite. I believe that it was the emotion that leapt off the page at me--the longing, the pathos, the sweetness, the cluelessness of Matt that so reminded me of my dh. I could not set the book down and I hated reading it so fast. Undecided
