This is the sequel to a book I read last year, The Horseman's Secret. It features that heroine's sister and that hero's brother. I liked the first book, and I liked this one even more. There was more focus on the romance, and it felt even more natural when they finally came together at the end (and I mean that in the most innocuous of ways, those of you with dirty minds!).
Brett Bishop made a huge mistake years ago and he's been flogging himself ever since. Now he's back on the former family homestead, managing the ranch for an upstart rich guy, and trying to avoid his new sister-in-law like the plague. Too bad he's her closest neighbor and she's a trouble magnet! As the new school teacher in this isolated (Nevada? can't remember) town, Claire Flynn is determined to support her students and prove herself even when no one seems to want her around. The kids give her fits, making friends is tough as an outsider, and her new brother-in-law--a man she finds disturbingly attractive--seems to avoid her at all costs. What drives Brett and what does he have against at least being friends? Gutsy Claire is sure to find out. Seeing Claire make her place in this town and in Brett's life is bothfun and heartwarming. And seeing Brett brought kicking and screaming--or staying moodily silent, Brett wouldn't scream--back into the family fold makes the story that much more satisfying.
Anyway, really enjoyed the characters and the experience, a very nice Super from Jeannie Watt.
