THE CALL OF THE WILD by Jack London / A YEAR DOWN YONDER by by Richard Peck

Format: Print Books
Series: Other

I'm combining these two because The Call of the Wild was just under the minimum word count!  But it is, of course, the classic book ya'll read in school. As expected, I understood it much better this time around, but still didn't like the ending (sigh).  A Year Down Yonder is an excellent, enjoyable read.  It takes place in a small, southern Illinois town in 1937. Fifteen year old Mary Alice is sent to spend the year with her fiesty Grandmother because times are hard back in Chicago.  Heartwarming and funny!

Call of the Wild

"Call of the Wild" is one of my favorite stories of all time. I read it over and over as a kid and wasn't real happy with the ending either. I still have a copy somewhere.

People who look down on others are the real freaks of this world.

I read ...

I think I read Call of the Wild, when i was about 12.  I just loved it.  Maybe I should read it again, aaaaaallll these years later.
