Camelot's Blood by Sarah Zettel

Blurb: Laurel Carnbrea, Queen of Cambryn, arrives at Camelot to marry a man she has never met-the cold, reserved Sir Agravain, nephew to King Arthur.

However, before the marriage can be consummated, Laurel's husband receives news that his father, King Lot, is dying and he must return to his homeloand of Gododdin in the north.

King Lot has been mad for many years- tormented by the sorceress Morgaine, Arthur's half-sister and deadlist enemy. Agravain and Laurel arrive to find the land of Gododdin in disarray and under threat of invasion from the Picts-led by Morgaine.

Laurel has powers of her own, inherited from her grandmother, the Seea and is prepared to use them to save the land of the new husband she is learning to love. By pitting herself against Morgaine she will face the gravest danger; and Agravain risks losing the woman who has finally managed to reach his heart...

I have to admit as much as I've been looking forward to reading this book. I was worried about it having Agravain as the hero. I didn't like him in the previous three books, he was incredibly harsh and at times cruel. But Zettel did well winning me over and she did it gradually by letting the character reveal his layers to Laurel as they fell in love. Agravain's sense of duty and the depth of his feelings helped make this story come to life. I found Laurel to be an intriquing heroine. Her struggle between two worlds as well as her struggle to define herself in her new home were perfectly written. There was one minor annoyance, Risa from 'In Camelot's Shadow' is apparently called Rhian in the British version. Not sure why the name change but it was something that I stumbled over having to mentally change the printed name to the one I was familiar with. Over all a very satisfy conclusion to the series, LUNA should reconsider their decision not to print this one.
