A Change of Place by Tracy Sinclair (SSE 672)

When Kimberly Jamison's identical twin sister Katherine, now an internationally famous high fashion model known only as Domenique, shows up at her house with an alcohol problem, pleading for Kimberly to take her place for a month so that Domenique can get treatment without her career suffering, Kimberly feels as if she has no choice. So leaving her twin in a rehab center in NYC, Kimberly is off to France to try to get along in the world of high stakes fashion, and she soon finds that her sister had every reason to be stressed. There's the infighting and backstabbing of the other models to deal with in addition to her sister's suitors, one of whom seems to be trying to pressure her into stealing her fashion designer, Henri,'s next season's designs and the other of whom is an older Greek who knows her sister too well, plus there's Alain Marchand who seems to dislike her sister for her alleged sexual affairs and who seems suspicious of her.

Alain is there at the House of Duroche to ensure it gets back to solvent financial ground and at the same time needs to ensure that the fall designs are safe from poaching by knock off designers – some designs have turned up missing already, and Domenique's unscheduled trip to NYC raises his eyebrows. Since her return, "Domenique" has seemed somehow more approachable...almost the type of girl Alain could fall in love with...

I enjoyed this book, and found the touristy details about France and the description of the fashion shows quite interesting. Kimberly and Alain both have mistrust issues and tend to listen too much to each other's reputations but considering they both just met that all seemed normal. Overall I found this a good read.
