Annie has lived in the Hallow all her life. Her husband died in a mining accident and it has left her without resources to escape her life of poverty. She has dreams of getting her GED and moving out of the holler as fast as she can, along with her twin sons. Her deceased husband’s best friend has been trying to help her, but she is a stubborn woman. But Pat doesn’t want to take “no” for an answer.
This is the third and last book of a series. I enjoyed all three books, but this was my favorite. Annie has a prickly, spunky personality that gets her through tough times and Pat is this great (however unbelievable) guy. He knows when to stand tough and when to back away, when to lend support and when to wait for her to come to him. Thumbs up!
