Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris ~ Penguin ~ May 2009 ~ Book #9 in the Southern Vampire series

From the publisher...

Now an HBO original series, True Blood, the New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse series continues.Except for Sookie Stackhouse, folks in Bon Temps, Louisiana, know little about vamps, and nothing about weres.Until now. The weres and shifters have finally decided to reveal their existence to the ordinary world. At first all goes well. Then the mutilated body of a were-panther is found near the bar where Sookie works and she feels compelled to discover who, human or otherwise, did it.But there's a far greater danger threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beings, older, more powerful, and more secretive than vampires or werewolves, is preparing for war. And Sookie finds herself an all-too human pawn in their battle.

Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris

I am not a particular fan of vampire stories, but I love the Sookie Stackhouse series. You are absolutely right that Charlaine Harris makes it easy to believe that vampires actually do exist. She is an extraordinary writer. Since I don't have access to HBO, I haven't been able to watch True Blood yet. But I am looking forward to reading Dead and Gone.

Thank you

I always look forward to your recommendations.

Thank you for being so thoughtful and yet not giving away anything crucial to the story.

w-w-w

I didn't

care for this one as much as her others. Too many dark things occured in this one. It was still good but parts were so sad I cried. I've been a huge fan from the beginning of this series and hope it starts going in a lighter direction. I miss the humor.
