I liked this installment of the 'Bewitching the Dark' series. How Ivan continued to be such a good man despite his nightly job spoke highly of his strength of mind and will. As more and more things are revealed the situation between Ivan and Dez starts to look bleaker and bleaker. Things do get more complicated than they at first appeared, and they were already complex from the start. Ivan had suffered a lot since his servitude began but Dez has also weathered many hardships in the years she has been alive. How everything gets resolved in the end was a great coming together of both these characters strengths.

Since his 21st birthday Ivan Drake has been forced to work for the devil each night. Even though Ivan tries to rebel he also does his job well. When the devil sets him the task of retrieving the Book of All Spells he goes about things as usual. Coming in contact with the protector of the book, witch Dez Merevech, does not go as smoothly as he expects. Ivan is both intrigued by Dez and determined to fulfill his mission. Even if he wished to rebel the devil’s compulsion is not one he can get away from, he has tried for years. Despite being on opposing sides Dez and Ivan continue to be drawn together. When the devil himself suggests seduction as an option for Ivan to try things get even more interesting between these two.
