WOW!!! When the first book, The Kommandant's Girl, came out, I was impressed. It was by far the best book I'd read that year. I was slightly apprehensive about The Diplomat's Wife, because I didn't like Marta all that well in Kommandant. I didn't really want to read her story, but I was so hooked on Pam's storytelling that I knew I'd read it anyway.
So let's start by me eating a lot of crow and taking back what I said about not liking Marta. She was PHENOMENAL in The Diplomat's Wife. So yet again, I have to say that Pam has written my favorite book OF THE YEAR. Folks, I honestly think I should just not read the rest of the year, it was so good.
I think what I love the best about this book (and Pam's writing in general) is how the twists and turns move so naturally in the story and definitely leave you guessing. I suspected she'd do a few of the things she did, and yet, when they happened, I was still surprised.
Flawless. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, and sadly, at least for my family, dinner was not on time. I just couldn't put the book down.
