The Doctor's Daughter

This book has been languishing on my TBR pile for a while now and I'm sorry I kept by-passing it.  The book is a tender love story between Virginia Lake, very strict doctor's daughter, and Lucas Yellowfly, a half-breed (his name, not mine) from the wrong side of the tracks.  It began when Lucas came upon a spirited 11-year-old Virginia raining objects down on some boys from her tree house, to the night of her graduation when he took her to the dance and kept her out all night, to the present when she returned to Glory, a single mother with a five-year-old son in tow, to apply as legal assistant in the law firm Lucas, now a successful lawyer, works for.  The story continues through their courtship and wedding until the wedding night when Virginia couldn't handle the intimacy because she had been raped six years before.  On the fringe was Johnny Gagnon, the father of her child who concieved by rape and who Virginia was afraid of; she kept moving around before coming to Glory in order because she was afraid that Johnny would find her.

Lucas was incredibly patient with Virginia and when her story came out, was supportive.  But it took Johnny coming back and taking her son to heal Virginia of her memories and allow the them to become a family in truth.  I give this book an A-.Cool
