Essence of Desire is three stories of characters that we've met in some of Brenda's previous books.
The Makeover is Robert Noble and Roxi Miller's story. Robert and Roxie are old friends and Robert has hired Roxie to renovate his new home. Roxie has always had a crush on Robert and decides that now is the time to take that young girl crush and vamp it up to full grown woman desire.

Truly Everlasting in Felicia Madaris and Trask Maxwell's story. Again a story of young friends, if that's what you want to call them, who suddenly are having VERY adult thoughts about one another. (This one was my favorite as it is extremely humorous and touching).

Bound by Passion is Royce Parker and Michelle Kincaid's story. Royce and Michelle had a one night stand a few years ago and then went their separate ways. Although neither one has forgotten that one incredible night, they've managed to keep their distance from each other. That is until Royce decides that enough is enough and goes after Michelle with a vengeance.

The theme of friends becoming lovers, no matter the time or distance is all throughout the book. That your one true love is out there and just waiting for the right time to come into your life(or back into your life, as is the case with these characters),keeps the romantic in us happy and hopeful.
