Fallen

Format: Print Books
Series: Other

This book is about a Grigori Demon (we met one in My Immortal),  who is a fallen angel named Gabriel.  In the 19th century, his lover was brutally murdered while he was in a drug-induced stupor and the crime was never solved.  Gabriel has no memory of the event and has been haunted ever since by guilt and the fear that he might have done it himself. He's been celibate since, partly out of guilt and partly because women become addicted to him.

Sara Michaels is a young woman in the present day whose mother was recently murdered in a very similar manner to Gabriel's lover.  Gabriel, who has become a true crime writer, contacts her because he wants to write a book about the differences between criminal investigations then and now.  What he doesn't know is that Sara is the great-great-granddaughter of his lover.

This novel isn't as funny as other books I've read by the author; its alot more serious in tone and subject matter.  I found it really touching.  The way that the hero and heroine gradally learn to trust and love each other felt more real-life than the instant love in a lot of romances.  It also had a nice creepy edge (I like that kind of thing) as Sara realizes the two murders are linked.
