Falling For Mr. Dark & Dangerous
Maggie runs a bed and breakfast. Her daughter, Jenn, is 18 and has had a previous run in with the cops. When US Marshall, Nate, arrives in the off season looking for a room under the pretense of being on vacation, it throws off Maggie's vacation plans. But he's easy on the eyes, and even though she isn't fond of cop types, she quickly finds herself interested in him.
Nate is attracted to Maggie, and at first he can't figure out why. She's older than him, the proprietor of the bed and breakfast, and he's not the type to slack on the job. He's there to track a criminal who Jenn was once involved with, but he finds himself charmed by the way Maggie makes him feel. There's something about the way she runs the business that makes him feel like he's finally "home".
Maggie has a lot of issues to work through, which is the heart of the book. After the death of her first husband, she doesn't think she can love again, and fears closeness with Nate, who puts himself in danger due to his job. She also doesn't want Nate to find out about Jenn's past. The element of danger in the book is secondary, but resolves itself at the end to satisfying results. Falling for Mr. Dark & Dangerous is a heartwarming story that fans of sweet romance are sure to love.

Cora, thank you for
Cora, thank you for reading! And for letting it count in the challenge.
It sounds like you liked it so that makes it even better. I'm glad you liked the ending too because that was one part that was actually rewritten in revisions and I liked it better the second time around too.

Falling for Mr. Dark & Dangerous
Congrats on the release, Donna. It's a good book. :-) Is it tied in with your next rancher book coming out next year?

Actually, no...but...
It is tied to my first two romances, Hired By The Cowboy and Marriage at Circle M. My next rancher book is the first one I'm doing set in a fictional town called Larch Valley. That being said, I always start thinking of secondaries that I could give stories to, and I'm thinking of writing Grant's story (the RCMP officer) sometime down the road. I was actually just thinking of it tonight. Just like readers don't always like leaving people behind, writers don't either as I'm sure you know! I love doing spinoffs. They all sort of stand alone, but at the same time there is this tie that binds them together...

Sequels and readership
Ooh, I didn't realize there were other titles! I'll have to make a note of that.
I understand what direction you're going in - I like sequels too. They're really good in building a solid universe, and a readership. I've done that with my werewolves, and I'm happy with where it's lead me. Though I've now branched off into a new pack - one across country from where the other one was. So I understand completely. It is definitely hard to leave behind a character: I can't leave mine alone. lol But then I think it's natural to wonder where they end up after the story ends.
