A Family of Her Own by Brenda Novak... QC #179

A Family of Her Own by Brenda Novak, SuperRomance, #1195, April 2004 (series: book 3- Dundee, Idaho)

book coverKatie Rogers did not believe ex-con Booker Robinson would amount to anything so she broke things off with him to date the guy with the preppy clothes and the college degree. So it's ironic that when she comes back to Dundee alone, broke and pregnant that it's Booker who ends up helping her and provides her a place to stay when her parents turn her away. Everyone told her preppy guy was no good but she wanted to get out of Dundee. It's also ironic that preppy guy became a lazy crack addict while Booker became a successful businessman. Booker has spent the last 2 years trying to forget Katie. Will having Katie under the same roof as him cause him to backslide and admit he loves her?

This hasn't been a favourite for me. Nowhere in the book does he say "I love you" I really think Katie expects Booker to shrug off her leaving too easily. It was nice catching up with the folks of Dundee. Rebecca was mentioned quite a bit because a) she works with Katie and b) she is good friends with Booker. They were both dubbed troublemakers in Dundee, so outcasts that they were, they stuck together. The public saw Booker as a big, bad, biker, but the reader saw a softer side to him.
