A Father for Jesse(Halo Island) by Ann Roth ~ American ~ 7/09
A Father for Jesse
Love this book as I did all the other Halo Island books. This is the fourth and final (waaaa) book of the miniseries. I have love all of Ann's Halo Island books.
Emmy Logan came to Halo Island because she felt she and her eleven-year-old son needed to get away from the street gangs of Oakland. She had found out that Jesse was becoming involved with one of the gangs and the leader of the gang was trying to get him to join up. He even gave Jesse a gun and had plans for Jesse to kill another gang member. Fortunately Emmy found out about it and decided to move them away from Oakland and gangs to a quiet community where Jesse could not get involved in gangs and she picked Halo Island. Of course Jesse was unhappy and rebellious at having to move and had a lot of trouble settling down there.
Mac Struthers had raised his twin brothers starting when he was only eighteen and they were ten. Finally the brothers have graduated from college and are ready to take over the construction business Mac had built and run in order to keep the brothers together. He is ready to take a year off and travel around the world then go to college and graduate himself. But he is in for a BIG surprise.
When Jesse and Emmy move into the house across the street from where Mac and his brothers are renovating a kitchen things happen. Mac feels he can help Jesse and Jesse likes and admires Mac but he makes it very clear he is planning on leaving as soon as the kitchen is finished.
Blurb -- "Emmy Logan came to Halo Island to make a fresh start. But what her rebellious son, Jesse, really needs is a man in his life. Someone he can look up to and find trust. Someone who'll stick around. Strong and dependable as he is, rugged contractor Mac Struthers in not that man.
After raising his two younger brothers, Mac is finally ready to go after his own dreams. Then the attractive single mom moves into the cottage across from his latest remodeling job. Emmy's son is definitely in need of a guiding hand. Mac could provide that. 'If' he were looking to settle down. Which he most definitely 'isn't'. Then why is he wishing this job would never end?"
