First of all, yes, her middle name is the number 8...and there's a reason.

Ms. Lee argues that Chinese food has become more American than apple pie, if you ask yourself when's the last time you had apple pie, then ask yourself when's the last time you had Chinese food. Interesting!

Lee (a speaker of Mandarin Chinese and therefore the perfect person to write this book) travels the world in search of the truths behind various commonly-held beliefs about Chinese food. What she finds is not only a history of Chinese immigrants in America, but great controversies in the world of food most people wouldn't even guess. She also scours the globe to find the best Chinese restaurant in the world...in North America.

I found this book fascinating and am lending it to at least 2 other people.
