Fractured by Karin Slaughter
In Fractured, Slaughter's second novel featuring Will Trent of the GBI, we're drawn into the life of a wealthy family who, by all appearances, seem to have it all. But when Abigail Campano comes home to find her front door unlocked and shattered glass over the floor, she immediately fears for the safety of her daughter. Coming face to face with a man who is standing over a bloody body, Abigail struggles with him, strangling him with her bare hands.
Will Trent sees things at the murder scene that the Atlanta police missed, and starts to put the pieces of the puzzle together. What only seemed to be a murder, turns into a possible kidnapping, and the list of clues and suspects grow while the clock is ticking to find the missing girl.
Trent is paired with Faith Mitchell who despises him at first, but learns to work with him and actually respect his insight. For all of his flaws, Will makes an outstanding character. He's so real and vulnerable, you could practically reach out and touch him. Hug him. Want to take care of him.
Fast-paced plotting, suspenseful action and well thought out character development is Karin Slaughter. She's a winner every time.
