Front Page Engagement by Laura Wright, Desire, #1885, August 2008 (book 2- Park Avenue Scandals)
Trent Tanford loved women. Some weren't too bright and knocking on the door of 12C instead of Trent's 12B. Since the women were knocking on Carrie Gray's door at all hours she dubbed them "Trent's Troops" After Trent's latest appearance in the paper, his father gave him an ultimatum "Marry and the president position is yours, but she can't be your usual bimbo" His next door neighbour, Carrie seems smart. Only problem, he has barely spoken to her and she seems to dislike him. But when he has her investigated he finds out she is house sitting, has school loans and in need of money. Will Carrie marry for money?

Favourite scene- I couldn't decide on one. The banter between these two was hilarious.
Favourite scene (he buys her a bunch of new cloths because she just got a new job)
She says "I'm not one those girls who will act coy and refuse a lovely gift when she really wants to keep it."
"No?"
She shook her head "I love cloths, dude"
"Did you just call me dude?"
Another favourite scene (this one really had me howling, later she is talking about her ring. the ring is a her. she had his engraved because they decided that the marriage would be longer than the year)
"Ah yes" She cleared her throat and made it dramatic "A day, a year, forever. Damn I'm good." When he laughed, she looked at him "You haven't changed your mind about that, have you? The forever part?"
"You mean after watching you talk to your ring and call it a she? Surprisingly no."
"Good man" grinning she reached up and slipped off his glasses "Make love to me."
"Shhh..."He was over her in seconds "Not in front of the ring"
Carrie giggled "That's cool. She likes to watch."
"Hmmm...." His mouth met hers "Kinky"
These two were wonderfully matched. Both of them not taking life too seriously. I really like that Trent was upfront with Carrie about why he wanted to marry her. They both had trust issues they needed to overcome like her not telling him her mother had Alzheimers or that her father walked out on them and Trent didn't tell her that he had been at the police station being questioned about Marie Endicott's death(a former resident whose death might not have been a suicide). I really liked this story and look forward to hearing more about the residents of 721 Park Avenue.

I liked reading your
I liked reading your review. :) I've read the same book and enjoyed it too, as you say they were well matched. Love that you're doing fav scenes, I adored the second scene you gave too... that was so sweet and funny! The H/h really came alive in this book and seemed friendly fun people eh?
Now... a SPECULATION about Marie's death....
I'm just gonna guess right now that the only woman who won't get a HEA and her own book devoted to finding love.... is:
12A: Vivian Vannick-Smythe—The building’s longest-standing resident, who has been on edge lately. Could it be planning the celebration of the building’s landmark status, or something else?
And I'm also gonna guess that she killed Marie. She's the stereotypical "too nosy neighbour" who is bound to be up to no good.
favourite scenes
I don't know if I'll do a favourite scene for every book, I'm thinking only the ones I deem funny. I loved these two they were good sparring partners. I don't think it would have worked if she was a meek and timid h.
I am really looking forward to Reed and Elizabeth's story.

I love couples that spar
I love couples that spar too. ANd yeah, do a fav scene when you feel like it, no pressure.
I'm looking forward to Amanda's more. I think E&R's might be a tad heartbreaking, but good of course. So I'm just looking forward a bit more to the lighter read.
Janet- stories
are you sure Vivian doesn't have a story. Could two residients have a combined story like say Gage and Amanda
Do you have a list of the books and who is in each? I figured out next is Prince Sebastian and December is Gage

Vivien's the "longest
Vivien's the "longest resident" so that made her sound like an older woman. She was also just acting suspicious and that made her seem like a villain. So in my head I thought "This is a romance series. If they are mentioning an older woman with no visible love interest and suspicious actions, she must be the villain, right?"
That's what went through my head....
Anyway, don't know anything about upcoming books, but looking forward to it. What was the name of the guy that set eyes on Amanda and wanted her? Was it an Alex? I can't remember.
Janet- look what I found
over on the Desiribles thread by Wayne
Any guesses on the other two. could go either way.

be glad
Katherine- be glad you don't need to collect 12 like some of the dynasties in years gone by
From what I can remember she does add a little funness to her books. For some reason I thought you had read Baby and the Beast cause it came up in a discussion last year where someone was looking for this title

I ordered the first two
I ordered the first two books in this series. I think they were part of the buy 4 get $4 off. With the other discounts, I got a good deal.
I was thinking the same thing about the 6 vs 12 books. When HQ first went to 6 I was a little upset. I love series and hate to see them end. 12 books makes the go on longer.
I skipped over your spoilers and read your ratings only.
