A Gentleman by Any Other Name

Format: Print Books
Series: HQN Books

Penn has been gently reminding everyone within her reach that we need to post our book reviews, so I am finally giving in, and reviewing....

A Gentleman by Any Other Name is the first in a seven book series by Kasey Michaels.  As always, I managed to start the series in the middle and was intrigued enough that I had to hunt down the other books.  I was not disappointed in this one.  The hero, Chance Becket, is a widower who is taking his young daughter to his family because he feels that they are better suited to raising the young girl.  However, her nanny refuses to be taken to the Dover Coast and the back of beyond, so he is forced to hire a new nanny.  (Enter my favorite type of heroine--the spunky ones are always underestimated by the heros!).  Unfortunately, Chance arrives home to discover that his family has started to protect the local smugglers from a larger smuggler ring that killed a couple of the locals.  Chance, of course, needs to protect his family secrets (and the smuggling isn't the only one) from the new nanny, Julia Carruthers.  Chance attempts to do this, but Julia figures things out and plays her part in helping to protect the family from the local Waterguard.

When I was finished with this one, I was more than ready to dive into the next book in the series, The Dangerous Debutante.
