From the publisher…

In a time when technology can reveal the darkest of secrets, there's only one place to hide a crime of passion - in the heart. The first victim was found lying on a sidewalk in the rain. The second was murdered in her own apartment building. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas had no problem finding connections between the two crimes. Both victims were beautiful and highly successful women. Their glamorous lives and loves were the talk of the city. And their intimate relations with men of great power and wealth provided Eve with a long list of suspects - including her own lover, Roarke. As a woman, Eve was compelled to trust the man who shared her bed. But as a cop, it was her job to follow every lead...to investigate every scandalous rumor...to explore every secret passion, no matter how dark. Or how dangerous.

This is another action packed suspense. It was great to see familiar characters --- Mavis, Eve’s odd-ball best friend; Summerset, Roarke’s disapproving butler; Feeny, Eve’s computer wiz partner; Comm. Whitney, Eve’s fatherly superior; and new to this book, Officer Peabody, a smart woman with ambition. The serial killer in this one is very smart, throwing Eve just enough evidence and coincidence to arrest the wrong man. But Eve is tenacious, she’ll never let the bastard win and of course, she nails him just in the knick of time. Roarke is as sexy as ever, and just as much Eve’s Knight in Shining Armour. Gotta love a man who appreciates the strengths of his woman, but doesn’t hesitate to charge right in to the rescue. In this installment, Eve’s finally able to admit she loves Roarke, even though she’s thoroughly amazed that he should want her. Their’s is a passionate, and often volatile, relationship but always there’s that mutual respect and unfaltering loyalty for one another. I’m looking forward to Roarke and Eve’s next adventure.

My Totals = 99 ~ Harlequin Imprint = 80 ~ Other Publisher = 19

I listened to this one mostly at the office while I was inputting data. I’m not sure if it was because of what I was doing, or whether it was the first half of the book, but I found it difficult to retain the valuable puzzle pieces that were introduced. I ended up listening to the beginning a few times, and even now I’m still fuzzy on some of the plot points. The second half of the book was more riveting perhaps, but it’s stuck with me. I do know that activities like gardening, painting or any other menial task and listening to an audio book, work much better for me.

BrillianceAudio just recorded ....

all of the In Death books this year ... you can get them from Audible.com   ...... I really enjoy audios, and thought if I picked a very popular series I'd breeze right through them ..... alas, I have learn the knack of "listening" to books while I do other things .... but I'll get the hang of it

the narrator, Susan Erikson does a fantastic job ... and I love that she does all the books  :)

right now I've got Casino Royale on the ipod ... so far so good ... after that, I think I'll go on to the third book in this series
