My love affair with Anne of Green Gables began many years ago. So when I found out a book had been written about Anne's life before she gets to Green Gables, I knew I had to read it. I didn't expect a whole lot from it, probably because I didn't expect another author would have the ability to capture Anne's spirit the way L.M. Montgomery did. I was wrong! Budge Wilson did such an incredible job of re-creating Anne. I felt like I was swept into Anne's world all over again... This book is such a breath of fresh air, I could hardly put it down. As I read it, I remembered how I felt the first time I read Anne of Green Gables. Anne is such a sweet, magical character and I am so glad I got to read more about her. I highly recommend this book.

Katy- my girls and I are reading this now. It's very well done.
When my mum asked about it I said this: if you want LM's voice and style, this isn't it. It is easy to tell this isn't written by LM, but I think that was the smart approach for the author to be honest. She chose story over imitation, and the story is GOOD.

I didn't know about this book
As a long time Anne fan I will have to see if I can find it. Thanks for reviewing it. Yippee! I'm number 26 on the list at the library so it will take a while before I get it.
