The Healer

Format: Print Books
Series: MIRA Books

I liked this book, even though it was a little off beat.  I'm not sure if you would classify it as paranormal.... but there was elements of that there.

In Alaska, a wolf brings a small boy to a hunting / fishing village.  No one knows where the child came from or how it came to be that the wolf deposited him there.  He is adopted by the local doctor.  The boy has an amazing affinity for all creatures and an uncanny ability to 'heal' whatever is ailing something / someone.

Eventually he 'heals' somebody who wants to harnass all that power and use it for his own gain.  Never mind that that might not be what Jonah wants... he figures if he throws enough money at him or makes his life uncomfortable... eventually Jonah will succumb.

But Jonah doesn't.  And so his life on the road begins.

Eventually his journey takes him to a small community in W. Virginia where he meets Luce... and realizes she is his soulmate.  But he is still being pursued and doesn't want to endanger Luce or the town he has arrived in that seems to have welcomed him.  Winter is also coming and being on the road, broke, homeless and hungry is not a life for anyone.

Ultimately his feelings for Luce and his fatigue with his life as it is come to a head and he takes a stand.  And basically all H*** breaks loose.
