Heart on Fire by Charlotte Lamb (HP 1467)

Back Cover:

Temptation with capital T

Claudia had been warned - working for Ellis Lefevre, the dynamic head of a multinational corporation, would be more than challenging. She knew he was a troublemaker, but then, that had been part of the job's appeal.

But when Ellis locked her in his hotel suite to type a confidential report for an important meeting, Claudia began to have serious doubts about her boss and his unusual working methods.

She was tempted to tell him what to do with his job, but that would mean severing their relationship. And Claudia didn't know if she could do that to the one man who had finally set her heart on fire....

My Review:

Mmmm!  Yummy chemistry between the hero/heroine.  I loved that the heroine stood up to him, and that her sister and brother-in-law were there to back her up and toss the hero out on his feet when he stepped out of line.  There were some very funny moments that just made me grin and laugh.  Charming story, reminds me of why I love Charlotte Lamb books so much.  When they get close, when they argue, they end up in each other's arms and it's sensual and inevitable.  I loved the way that the hero just looked at her intently at times, it was intense and possessive, yum.  I liked how the author developed jealousy and made the hero feel like the heroine was choosing his brother over him, it wasn't unreasonable jealousy but it helped move the plot along and get them closer to horizontal.

The way the heroine accepted an affair with the hero at the end, before realizing his intent was marriage, was a little old-fashioned and willy-nilly weak for my taste (I thought the heroine would be in character and stand up to him and say what she wanted!).

Rating: 4/5 stars, a great Charlotte Lamb book with passion and witty parrying between the hero/heroine.

Charlotte Lamb

The first Harlequin I ever read was by Charlotte Lamb.

She knew how to put a lot in the book with a minimum amount of words.

She never, ever skimped on the emotion.

Agreed!  CL's books are

Agreed!  CL's books are highly emotional and are some of the most passionate books out there, the reader feels the feelings....

Question about CL... did she also write under the name Sarah Holland?  (I think she wrote under Sheila Holland, and I've come across a few Sarah Holland M&B which were keepers for me, and I assumed they were CL's...)

The first romance I read was a HP... Innocent Obsession by Anne Mather.  Another master at romance!

Janet . . .

Charlotte Lamb's real name was Sheila Holland.
The Sarah Holland you've also read was her daughter who wrote about 20 books for Harlequin Mills and Boon in the 80s and early 90s.
I met them both a couple of times

Kate... thanks so much for

Kate... thanks so much for the clarification!  That has had me wondering for years.  I noticed the names years ago but I only read that CL was Sheila Holland a year ago.  Her daughter is also talented, I have read some great steamy reads from her.  And really the style is pretty similar: intense and steamy.
