James McElroy promised seventeen year old Olivia Banks he would be there for her forever. Her family ships Olivia off to Bar Harbor to have her baby Now she's alone, scared and pregnant. Olivia soon realizes James isn't coming back and marries another man, who promises to take care of her and the baby.   It had me in tears. I was angry at her parents and James. James didn't have the backbone to stand up to his father. It took me several chapters to realize this story was taking place back when parents did ship  daughter's off to have their babies. I felt a whole range of emotions. Tears when Olivia realizes that James isn't coming back to tears of happiness at the end.
