Fiona Murchison was a single mother and a paramedic in Lakeview, Central Otago, New Zealand. She had been married to Al Stewart a celebrity racing driver who had been killed while racing leaving Fiona a widow and their son, Sam, fatherless.
Nick Stewart was Al's younger brother who had left home after Al and Fiona married. He had become a surgeon and worked for Medecins sans Frontieres or Doctors without Borders. He was going to be temporarily working as medical director at the hospital where Fiona worked. Neither knew the other was there.
The book opens at the scene of a motor race where a car goes out of control and slams into the spectators. Fiona and her crew of paramedics began caring for the injured but put out a call for any doctors available. That is when Nick and Fiona met after years of not seeing each other or even knowing what each had been doing. As they spent more time together each realized they loved the other and began to spend time together. Unfortunately love was not easy and then something happened to make things even more difficult.
I enjoyed the book and can recommend it as a good read.
