Her Last Death: A Memoir
This novel describes what it was like to grow up with a flamboyant, rich, drug-addicted mother and what effects that had on the author in her past and present life. It serves as the author's final explanation as to why she can't finally bring herself to go to her mother's deathbed.
While I understand the author's decisions as they relate to her life, the character her mother presents is beguiling and I was sad that the author ultimately cut her mother out of her life...which admittedly is the opposite effect the book was intended to have. Complicated story, complicated emotions. Good book.
