Imagine you're a writer of mysteries, and you invent the perfect Hero: a Regency lord who is everything you want in a man. Then imagine that somehow, you're in danger and he comes to life and rescues you. That is the premise of this delightful series. This is the first of the Maggie/Saint Just novels I've read, but I'm going to be looking for the rest of them. In this entry, one of Maggie's books has been optioned for a made-for-TV movie, and she, Saint Just, his valet Sterling, and a couple of their friends fly to England where the film is to be shot in a country home. When the screenwriter is murdered and the entire company is trapped by rising flood waters, this turns into a house-party mystery (Maggie suggests "Ten Little Indians). When the lights go out, anyone could be next...
I don't know whether this series is in hardback or just paperback, which is where I found it. Caveat for the sensitive: there is some bad language in the books, but it isn't every other word, or I wouldn't have finished it, despite the cute plot.
