High Society Secret Pregnancy by Maureen Chld (Sil.Desire 07 ’08)

Julia finds out she is pregnant after her one night with Max, unfortunately, he had made clear he would be willing for a sexual relationship, but he didn’t want anything else.  When she finally tells him, he doesn’t believe the child is his – due to a previous fertility report.  However, when word threatens to come out, she runs to him to help her.  The two agree to marriage, but can she move past his disbelief about the child.  Again, perhaps my illness tainted this book, but she got a bit on my nerves.  If your world can’t deal with a illegimate child, move.  Jeez, I did want her to grow a backbone.  She finally does by the end of the book, but it just didn’t really work for me.  The premise was interesting and I did understand his disbelief, but not his unwillingness to consider that the report might be wrong.  Overall, a good story. Totals – 99- 68Harlequin, 23 Non-Harlequin, 8 audio, 4 re-read TBR Challenge – 16 out of 91 TBR2 Challenge – Books Acquired – 56 books, 56 books read, 35 library books (90 total print) NFM

his disbelieving

I did have a small issue with the fact that he didn't believe Julia but he believed his lying exwife. But mostly I found this book a chuckle. Are tyou gonna try the rest of the books in the Park Avenue Scandals?

Yeah, I will.  I normally

Yeah, I will.  I normally like MC, but I think her lack of backbone and his unwillingness to believe just hit a sore point.   I think actually she bothered me more than him.  But, I already bought book 2, so hopefully that one works better for me.

Laura Wright wrote a very funny story for Trent and Carrie. I loved the banter between the two

Here's my review.   I

Here's my review.

I actually liked this one a tad bit better than Trent & Carries (because of the ick factor of the hero being a bit of a slut *grin*)

Back Cover:

Manhattan millionaire Max Rolland didn't do relationships…until his one-night stand turned up pregnant. Blue-blooded Julia Prentice may have been a lamb by day, but she'd been a lion in the bedroom. And when the expectant socialite showed up on his doorstep, Max knew the baby couldn't be his. But he offered marriage anyway.

For one year. He'd get his heir and a sexy bedmate. But before the prenup ink was dry, Max was wondering if he'd want more from Julia than just a business deal.…

Favourite Scene:

Staring up at the ceiling, she said, disbelief coloring her tone, “I went right back to bed with him. It’s like he can hypnotize me or something.”

“Lucky you,” Amanda said.

“Lucky?” Julia shook her head. “It’s like an out-of-body experience or something, except I’m right there in my body. I just don’t have control over it anymore.” She slapped one hand over her eyes. “For pity’s sake, we didn’t even use a condom. Again.”

“A little late to be worrying about protection, don’t you think?”

“I’m not thinking. That’s the solid truth. It’s like my brain shuts down when he touches me. I don’t understand this at all.”

“Why try to understand it?” Amanda said on an envious sigh. “Just enjoy it.”

“You’re not helping.” Julia turned her head to glare at her best friend, seated cross-legged on the love seat opposite her.

“What do you want me to say?” Amanda laughed and dipped her spoon into the pint of chocolate-chip ice cream. “Oooh. Bad Julia. Having sex. Shame.”

My Review:

Part of the "Park Avenue Scandals" series, I like the group of people this series focuses on.  It's sexy and light-hearted, the women are really good supportive friends too.  I'm interested in reading Amanda's story.  The H/h had unprotected sex and she's pregnant.  He doesn't believe the baby is his because his ex-wife showed him a test saying he was infertile.  The hero wants to marry the heroine anyway and make the baby his heir since he needs one and wants her so badly.  The hero is a bit of a dumb pig to disbelieve the heroine so vehemently, trusting his lying ex over her.  But he eventually comes to his senses.  The heroine has an unsupportive family and they deserved a swift kick to the rear.  This was a good story.

My Rating: 3.5/5 stars, I liked this better than Trent & Cassie's story because there was no ick factor.

I, too, am looking forward
