IN HIS SIGHTS by Carol Steward (LIS #96)

Format: Print Books

SYNOPSIS:  Dee Owens has a tough job to do: she has to find a positive way to spin the recent problems (including murder) at Magnolia College.  Her job as a publicist brings her into close contact with Edgar Ortiz, the assistant director of admissions for the college.  Unfortunately, the public attention on Dee seems to have created even more problems as now Dee finds herself wondering if she is being stalked or simply paranoid.  Meanwhile, will the sudden limelight put a halt to the growing attraction between Dee and Edgar?

MY THOUGHTS:  Office romances are always hard to write well, but Carol Steward doesn't shy away from confronting those issues head on.  In fact, Ms. Steward tackles several tough issues very directly in IN HIS SIGHTS as she also addresses the issue of faith being used as a crutch.  I found this quite refreshing as she handled the issues directly and openly without trying to smooth over or pretend they weren't there at all.  In fact, her style is very similar to how Dee handles her own job as a publicist in the tale and so the writing style meshed quite nicely with the characters and the plot.  I'm enjoying this series and look forward to reading the last two books in it.

This one sounds good in lots

This one sounds good in lots of ways.  Using faith as a crutch is an idea that intrigues me, esp done in a book meant for readers of faith.

I really...

liked that this was addressed in an inspirational romance.  And the author is just a good writer, too, so that makes it quite interesting.
