A year and a half after a weekend fling Christie Simmons comes to Brody's Crossing to find Cal Crawford the father of her nine month old son, Peter. She has also bought the rundown motel Sweet Dreams Motel to renovate. Cal Crawford has just come home from Afghanistan to find his ranch devoid of Herefords and populated by free range chickens, dairy cattle, and bison. It's a change he's not happy with. After Christie introduces Cal to Peter she moves in and they co-parent Peter. Can Cal get through his problems. Can Christie and Peter bring some peace into his life.
I really enjoyed this book. I think I got the message. I even cried toward the end.
