If you've been following my reviews, then you've probably figured out that I LOVE historicals. Susan Wiggs' early MIRA novels like this second novel in the Calhoun Chronicles are definitely on my favorites list (to tell the truth I kind of wish she'd go back to writing historical romances)!
Raised by her horse-trainer father on a remote island off the coast of Carolina, Eliza Flyte has a gift for communicating with and gentling troubled and wild horses. When Hunter Calhoun -- a troubled, wild widower -- comes to her with a horse driven mad... Well, I'm sure you can guess where the plot goes from there, but suffice to say, it's not just the horse that feels the influence of Eliza's gentle wisdom.
What I love about this book is the number of layers and subplots going on while the main romance between Hunter and Eliza unfolds over three parts. A fantastic historical read!

I couldn't agree with you more!
I was so happy to see that these books are being re-issued, because like you, I think historicals are her best writing! I loved this book, too, and now I may have to re-read it.

One of My Favourites, Too!
Add me to the fans of her historicals. Love, love, love this book and like you, Dream, I'm feeling like digging it out of my keeper cupboard for a reread.
