A Husband of Her Own by Brenda Novak... QC #178

A Husband of Her Own by Brenda Novak, SuperRomance, #1130, May 2003 (series: book 2- Dundee, Idaho book)

book coverRebecca Wells had a reputation in Dundee. Once she married and moved she wouldn't hear the whispers behind her back. But her fiancée kept postponing the date. Josh Hill had always been a thorn in Rebecca's side. Ever since he moved in across the street from her. Over the years they pulled pranks on each other. While she gained the reputation of a troublemaker, Josh was just being a boy. And boys will be boys. It didn't help that Josh was like the son her father never had and with her being the youngest she was her father's last chance for a boy. They decide to call a truce to their war because her parent's anniversary party is coming up and everyone  wants the party to go of without a hitch. Josh starts seeing how all the talk is hurting Rebecca, even though she acts tough and shrugs it off. What's with all the jealous and possessive feelings that keep cropping up? Shouldn't thoughts of his girlfriend and not Rebecca invade his mind? If Josh wanted Rebecca to get on with her life so he could get on with his, why would he call her fiancee and tell him of all Rebecca's past unsavory deeds?

This was a wonderfully written story. Ms. Novak combined the right amount of humour into this story to make it entertaining. She made the reader feel a part of Dundee.

I felt bad for Rebecca -

I felt bad for Rebecca - her dad really didn't treat her right.  I really enjoy BN's books.

Cady

series

Right now I am reading A Family of her Own. This is the last book I need to read in the Dundee series. I believe someone here said it was  a good feeling finishing a series and it is. I'm really liking Booker and Katie's story.

Yes I did feel bad for Rebecca about her father making her feel that way. I would have liked to see this explored  more between Josh and Rebecca and how it affected her dislike for him.

Hey Christa

is the Dundee series finished now? .. meaning no more new releases?  .... if so, I should pull them out and finally read them!  LOL

my internet at home is out .... figures it's Friday of a long weekend ... and of course, the tech say's it's not a problem with the modem or my computer so it has to be the line outside the house!  ... so guess that means I'm without connection until next week!  Surprised  ...  Cry

the last time this happened was before Christmas ... and on a Friday too

and last year for the long weekend in August it was down ... and there I needed a new modem .... so by the time the figured that out, it wasn't until Wed after the weekend and then I didn't get the modem until the Friday .....

it better not be my modem .... the tech promised me it wasn't .... how's he to know???   .... even when I reminded him that it was last year, he swore nope can't be that this time ... ya sure

so you probably won't see me online until next week when I get in here to the office .... unless some miracle happens!

hope you have a great weekend!

Katherine, not sure

she had Coulda Been a Cowboy come out June 2007(that was #8 and the latest). I didn't see anymore in her upcoming section. For me, right now reading book 3, A Family of her Own. It is the only one I need to read in the series.

Hope you get your internet up and running soon. I miss you.hug I need my Katherine fix daily.

I really enjoyed the one

I really enjoyed the one book i've read so far to this series, Stranger In Town. I have a few others waiting in my tbr, but not all of them. Seems they all stand alone well, so that's good by me.
