Inappropriate Men

I couldn't decide whether I liked this book or I didn't.

Sidney's living loud, living proud creed was to be admired.  She was who she was; she was proud of who she was; she had more chutzpah than most women I know and she was out there living her life.

And she was involved with a married man.  Dumb.  I know the heart leads us down paths we wouldn't necessarily travel... but she knew he probably wasn't going to leave his wife. She knew he wasn't really the ideal person to get involved with... one of her dad's partners and contemporaries who travelled in the same social circles as her parents... so it was a relationship that also had to remain hidden. And he had the balance of power and control in the relationship and used it regularly.

So I would get frustrated with her dithering around about him... and then she'd say something so totally outrageous that you had to laugh out loud. The cast of characters that are her friends were enormously amusing as well.

Which was why I probably read the book instead of putting it down when I got frustrated. I was glad to see her finally come to terms with the relationship (and the subsequent ones) as she carried on with her life.
