Back Cover:
Blackmailed by the Count to be a willing wife...
Miranda still loves her estranged husband,'Count Dante Severini, and she would do anything to be with him and their son. But Dante clearly hates her - treating her like an unfaithful gold-digger...
Much as it pains him to do so, Dante has had no choice but to believe the evidence against his wife. He had wanted nothing more to do with Miranda - but their son has been missing his mother. So he issues her with a dramatic command: Miranda must come to live with him in his Italian palazzo. In exchange for a life of unparalleled luxury she must pretend that they are happily married.. .that she is his loving, willing wife...
My Review:
Darn hero. Silly man, living man and wife with the heroine for four years and still not knowing her well enough (or being home enough) to know and trust that she was a loving mother and faithful wife? Really, he has no excuse for not being home enough to realize his wife is a kick ass mum who loves her kiddie. The back cover made it sound like the couple were a long-time separated couple, when they'd only been "estranged" two weeks. A longer separation might have meant things could cool down a bit more. I don't know how the hero handled the fact that he thought his wife had been sleeping with other men only two weeks ago.
The book was pretty good, the steam great, I loved that the hero admitted he still loved his wife just halfway through the book, usually we have to wait until the last ten pages for the hero to admit his feelings! Their child was cute.
Rating: 3/5 stars, great steam/conflict, it did puzzle me though how the hero could live with his wife four years and not know her or trust her!
