Like any of Janice Kay Johnson's books this one delves deep into the human psyche ~ good and bad. There's always a strong emotional component in JKJ's stories, but it's never too much ~ but it sure does open the reader to the characters.
I read the first book in this series awhile back (aka earlier this year) and finally came across the next two books in the series. And as this is my month to read series that I'm into, it seemed perfect ~ and I can bring up my harlequin numbers at the same time.
Any way you look at it, this book is a winner ~ but then I knew that it would be! VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
RATING:
Excellence: Excellent ~ 4.0 stars
Steaminess: Romantic
BOOK READ:
Janice Kay Johnson; The Baby and the Badge; HSR #860; 9/99
2nd in the Patton's Daughters series
FROM the BACK:
Meg Patton, single mother and the newest deputy of the
Elk Springs Sheriff's Department, has finally come home.
It's time for meg to reconcile with her sisters ~ and past time to introduce them to her son. It might even be the right time to let herself fall in love.
And even though she wasn't looking for one, she's found a likely candidate for that last part. Scott McNeil discovered an abandoned baby one night, and Meg was the officer called to investigate. She's attracted to him from the start ~ he's good-looking and great with the baby. So when the baby's mother is found dead, Meg must prove he's innocent, because she knows he can't be guilty.
And she has to prove it ~ they have to prove it ~ for her sake, as well as his.
