Janice Kay Johnson, Lost Cause:  I liked this a lot, enough to seek out more of her books, including the other two in this trilogy, which depicts three siblings who were separated as children, and are now trying to reconnect.  This one was about the brother, whose adoptive family did not turn out to be very loving.
