Kushiel's Justice

This is the second book in the second trilogy of Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series.  It was deeply touching.  I couldn't put it down.  It's almost 900 pages long, making it one of the longest books I've read in a while.

The story is full of all the bitterness and sweetness of a great love.  Having just recently broke up with the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with the more romantic parts of this book hit me pretty hard at times, making me wish for something I didn't have.

I highly recommend the Kushiels seris to anyone who is a fan of romance or fantasy, but I warn everyone to keep an open mind.  These books are no holds barred, with scenes of BDSM, homosexuality (both male and female), and other strong sexual themes.

"Love, real love, is something you earn for who you are; it's not a prize for your performance in bed."
