Last / 7th book in the Chronicles of Narnia. As far as storyline, this is exactly what it sounds like . . . it begins, "In the final days of Narnia . . ." We meet many of our old friends and new ones. For readers looking at the philosophy and spirituality messages, well, I imagine that there have been heated discussions and papers written about this book. I think it has more things to think about than the others. Print and CDs should be easily available at your bookstore or library. Audio also available at audible.com Read by Patrick Stewart. NFM

Ay, another Narnia fan.
Ay, another Narnia fan.
I've been working my way through the books--I like to re-read them every few years or so. Haven't gotten back to THE LAST BATTLE yet. But an audio read by Patrick Stewart? Heaven. I love that man's voice. Right up there with the likes of Sean Connery and James Earl Jones.
I should look for the audio books for when I'm traveling. I'd get through the 7 books much faster, I suppose.

Julie,
In '05, Harper audio released new recordings with famous & good actors.
I bo't them all as a bundle from audible.com last year, b/c I knew that we'd listen over and over. My library system has several copies of these recordings on CD.
As for audio suggestions in general (for your trips or even just around town), you might bop over to The D2K Paranormal Junkies' blog and ask Debkc3 for suggestions. She teaches P.E. in an elementary school and listens to everything from books for the littlest ones to books for herself and whatever falls in between (YA? what else?). It has an amazing variety, her collection.
My library also has downloadable audio. Has yours added that yet? My mom likes the downloadable b/c it can't become overdue (nothing to return). On its due date, it just stops working. I like the convenience of getting myself something at night after the kids are in bed (when the library is closed). I actually haven't used my library's downloadable yet b/c I'm a Macintosh/iPod girl and they're not compatible, but I do subscribe to audible.com. Certain people here got me addicted . . .
Anyway, the Narnia recordings are as good as you would expect them to be with those voices. I'd borrow them if your library carries them.

I liked these books. It's
I liked these books. It's been ages since I read them. I like CS Lewis's. SF too. He was a medievalist, believe it or not. He, Tolkein and Dorothy Sayers, writers I all enjoy. The first two I read before I discovered that out (or had even read Medieval anything) and Dorothy Sayers afterwards. It about floored me when my prof used CS Lewis' SF Out of the SIlent Planet series to explain this medieval concept. I really should reread some of these books.
