The Loner by Rhonda Nelson (Blaze Jun 08)

The hero of this story is a Ranger who has a career-ruining training accident in chapter 1 and joins a security force populated by former Rangers. Hmm...what a surprise. I'm reading a story with a special forces hero. That's so unlike me. Oh, no, wait...that's exactly like me! My mistake.

Lucas "Huck" Finn is probably my favorite kind of hero. Superhot military type who's pretty cocky - oh, sorry; he says he's "good, not arrogant - there's a difference, you know." Sure there is, Huck. But he's also vulnerable. And so delicious!

I like the fact that the heroine is also a well-developped, well-rounded character with a good amount of depth. I'm not a fan of the name Sapphira for the character, but I'll go along with it.

Now I just wish I'd read the first three Men Out of Uniform books...!
