Lover Enshrined by J. R. Ward (Signet, 2008)

Lover Enshrined by J R WardBack Blurb:

Black Dagger Brotherhood Book #6

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other--six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. And now, a dutiful twin must choose between two lives... Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood's bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished. As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body but his heart for herself--she sees the emotionally scarred male behind all his noble responsibility. But while the war with the Lessening Society grows more grim, and tragedy looms over the Brotherhood's mansion, Phury must decide between duty and love.

My Review: (No Spoilers)

While this was a nice and long book, I could have taken more!  Much of the story is not resolved, but rather a preparation for the next installment of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.  Ward's story is very engaging and quite addictive, and I am certain this will be on my Top Ten list at the end of the year.  I would have liked to see more of Cormia and Phury.  I am sure we will see much more of them in the future.  Awesome read!! Now to wait another six months for the next story.

I haven't gone around and read very many of your reviews of this book, as I was afraid of Spoilers.  So I am unsure of who will be in the next story?  I am assuming it is Revhenge?  I had the ebook version, and there wasn't a preview of the next book like I was used to in the paper versions.

My Rating: 5

Hi Tammy

I also started to stay out of the LE blogs not wanting spoilers. Now that I've finished, I went to Kathy's (Kalyko) blog on the Brothers and spoiled away. I'm waiting for everyone to come talk. Maybe the talking is somewhere else now?

A lot of stuff going on in this one. Many questions answered and new ones formed. I also would have liked more of Cormia and Phury. However, they were in it enough, and I am attached to the rest of the characters, that it did not bother me like it would have in any other romance I may have picked up. I am a, must have some romance with my story, person.

Margie :)

Urban fantasy lover here...

So I was happy to have more other story and less romance.  But I can see where it would be a let down for fans who expect more romance.... esp. since there was that expectation.  And yes, Tammy, I think Rehvenge's story is next.

And I so

And I so want to see where she's going with that one. You think you'll get answers in each book and you do but that just creates more mysteries for the upcoming books.

i finally got this one...

I will get to it soon. From what I have heard so far, sounds very good.

Got Books?

Hey Margie! Oh, I need to

Hey Margie!

Oh, I need to go by Kalyko's blog!  I have just been so busy getting ready for our trip, and working on the basement.  Oh, to have an hour added onto every day.Smile

I would have liked more time spent with Phury and Cormia, as in a longer book.  But I would not have wanted anything else in the story to have been omitted, if that makes any sense??  I loved seeing so much of John, Quinn, and Blay.  I am really attached to their stories, since we have watched them grow from early on.  Especially John.

Have you read any books by Ward that have been written as Jessica Bird?  I was wondering if she had plans to write any more Special Editions?

Take Care,

Tammy

Hey Debi!

Hey Debi!

I, too, love Urban Fantasy!  I wasn't disappointed in the book at all really.  It kept me hooked, every page.  But like I said to Margie above, more pages (hear me complain, lol....I know it was over 500 pgsTongue out) on Cormia and Phury, I would have enjoyed.  But I wouldn't have liked any of the pages to have been omitted to make more room for them.  Hopefuly that makes sense!!

I am very curious to see where the war between the vampire race and the lesser will go in the next story.

Take Care,

Tammy

Hey Deb!

Hey Deb!

I agree, tons of mysteries began in Lover Enshrined!  She (Ward) can really head off in a lot of directions at this point.  The Lesser war has certainly been moved up on the intriguing scale.  And Revhenge....lots of interesting facts learned about him.

Take Care,

Tammy

Hey Tammy! I just noticed

Hey Tammy! I just noticed you'd finished LE. So much harder to keep up and see what's going on at a glance in the blogs this year. I miss so much...but i do eventually get there, so i guess that's the main thing right? Innocent

I'm so looking forward to Rev's story, while at the same time i'll be a little worried about it.

I can't wait to read more on John, Blay and Quinn.  So many people i'm anxious to read more about in future books. This is going to be one - long -running series. Isn't that wonderfull? Laughing

Trying to be carefull for spoilers, or i'd say more.

I really do need to get over to KK's to talk spoilers...but we've been so busy, i stop in here for quick stuff mostly.

In case i don't see you before you leave.., I hope your trip is awesome, and the weather wonderfull while your there.

TC, Smile

Ooooh Tammy!

You read it!  Yay... and you're so right ~ for every answer given four or five questions were raised.  I truly do not know how she does it, but every single time she manages to get up further into the world of the Brothers.

And yes, Jessica Bird will be writing at least two more Special Edition stories, one for each of the other O'Banyon brothers.  I can hardly WAIT!  And then there's the BDB Compendium out this fall ~ that'll give us a bit of a nosh until Rehv's story is out.

And Kathy, oh I so know what you mean about being worried how JR is going to do Rehv's story... but ya know, I was really concerned about both V's and Phury's stories with their problems ... guess I'm thinking that whatever comes of Rehvenge will be just as awesome.

October's MEMBER OF THE MONTH

kalyko ~ Reading: One of life's little joys and a much needed reward!

Hey Kathy D!

Hey Kathy D!

Heehee, kinda like me, eh?  I do eventually get back to everyone!  Phew, busy times here for me.  We finally got my in-laws moved out here to Minnesota.  They slept for the first time last night in their new home.  So I do not have house guests today.

On Lover Enshrined....

I am really looking forward to Rev's story, I think it is about time to learn a little more about Symphaths(sp??).  I don't think I am too worried about it, as I find reading Wards books to be a little out there anyways, so I can pretty much handle whatever she throws our way.Smile

I loved reading about John, Blay and Quinn.  Their growth and friendship is so wonderful!  And I love that John has the hots for someone, its pretty cute!  And I so love that Ward has given us so many characters to look forward to reading about.

I understand about being busy....lol!  I need to head over to Kalyko's as well...but it seems these days I am lucky enough to get in here at all.  I miss the time I had last year.  Even my reading is at an all time low.Undecided

Thank you!  My trip was absolutely fantastic!  The weather was pretty good, although a few days were a bit too hot, I really cannot complain.

Talk to you soon!

Tammy

Hey Kalyko!

Hey Kalyko!!

I know!!  Ward keeps you wanting to read more and more and more!!  She pays attention to detail, yet keeps the story moving quickly.  I loved having so many things happening in Lover Enshrined.  And there was one big whopper that had me saying "ah-ha!!!"

Do you happen to know when she is going to write the SE stories, her Bird website isn't up-to-date.   And there is one brother(the one who was in the military, I think) whose story I am very anxious to read about.

I read about that Compendium, it looked like it was going to be published by another publisher or something.  Do you know much about it?  Will there be extras about the Brothers in there?  Or is it a guide for those who haven't read all the books?  Heehee, I haven't been keeping up in the Ward world here....

I am thinking Rev's story will be awesome too...I have loved each and every story thus far.

Take Care,

Tammy

I really enjoyed this

I really enjoyed this book.  Looking forward to more.  Lots happened here on the Tohr, John, Qhuinn, Blay, Lash, Rehv front, we got lots of payout on those characters.  And I was satisfied with the Cormia/Phury storyline.

Hey Janet!

Hey Janet!

I really enjoyed it too!!  I just love how much story Ward puts into the book...keeps me reading much past my bedtime.  I agree, lots of payout on those guys, great way to put it!!  I can't wait to read more about Tohr and John.  Love these books!!

And on Phury and Cormia....I would have liked to have seen more, but I suspect I will when the next book is released.

Take Care,

Tammy
