Lover Unbound by J. R. Ward

Lover UnboundFifth book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series

Vishous who is the ruthless Brother of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. He is the son of Bloodletter and as he discovers the Scribe Virgin. Although J.R. Wards books are always great and always a fantastic read. I was disappointed. I can't tell you why without it being a spoiler. Just read it.

I'm ashamed to admit . . .

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I haven't read any J. R. Ward books, yet.

Must they be read in order?

w-w-w

Absolutely....

I'm not a big "books must be read in order" sort of person but this series really has to be read in order imo.

And I gotta agree... this book was a letdown.....

down, because I loved this one, even though I thought none of the Brothers could ever top Zsadist's story, though I reckon we could possibly discuss it without spoiling it for too many people

I'm a lot less impatient to read Phury's story or Rhev's, the ones I'm impatient to read now are JT's, Blay's, Qhuinn's and Tohr's

just as well I'm not too impatient, it'll be a while before Phury's gets to me

The ending.  There were other issues for me as well but that was the worst of it.

natures - I think that will probably be the last of the human/vampire couples for exactly that reason, how else would you have solved the "problem"?

I too loved and enjoyed V's

I too loved and enjoyed V's story. There were a couple points where i thought, "what", "huh", wow", but it actually worked out ok for me, and V., so that made me happy.  The ending was just to weird, so i thru that right out of my head, and almost instantly decided to wait and judge that part when we get to more of how it plays out, which i figured could be awhile, so that's alooong time to pack it around. Nada, to stressfull for me. lol

Predictable....

perhaps, but not satisfying.  Hey, the author decides that a character is to be human~ it's up to her to successfully resolve the issue!  All I'm saying is that it did not work for me.....

Yes I get you Debbie, and my response is maybe not

immediately satisfying, but perhaps necessary for something three books in the future or more, given the way she sets things up in advance.

As the series goes on, the books are becoming increasingly less stand-alone and while that is good for those of us who are following the series, it means that it's correspondingly more frustrating when the end of the book is not the end of the story, ESPECIALLY when there's a nine to ten month wait for the next "episode"

the lack of ebook options bugs me, especially as they seem to be heading for hardcover format from Rhev's book, meaning that the paperbacks will be even longer getting to us

Now I understand

I understand now that I've read Lover Enshrined why Lover Unbound ended the way it did. I still am not completly happy with the ending of LU.

Shell

I can understand that...

Sadhbh, but it doesn't make me like LU better.  Set up books always bug me... sort of a pet peeve of mine. And don't get me started on the hardcover issue... GRRR!!!!

Debi, I'm with you on the HC

Debi, I'm with you on the HC switcheroo...that's going to get to me as well, the thought already does. It's way to late in the game to switch imho.

Hardcovers

I hate hc also. The way I heard it from someone in the industry is that once a publisher is sure they have a author that is really popular they will switch to HC. The author doesn't have any choice in the matter.
