Widowed mom,Aimee Blake is now facing her teen daughter,Samantha's rebellion. Since Sam is trying to assert her independence,Aimee decides to do some things for herself. Little does she expect it to include meeting a very handsome man. Her friend,Erica tries to discourage her getting involved with Jacob Mallory as he never gets serious about any woman. Aimee and Jacob start out as friends and are devoted to their jobs and the organization,Substitute Siblings.
Can they manage to become close despite Samantha being in an accident,or the past that haunts Jacob?
This is another of Irene's wonderfully written books featuring everyday life but also how faith and love can endure despite ourselves. One sentence really impressed me-"They had both lived through the storms of their separate lives before they'd finally found a safe harbor in each other." This speaks volumes of a true loving relationship. I also was drawn in by the cover with the beautiful bouquet on the stone bench, depicts a serene place and time to me.
At the end there is a recipe for Peanut Blossoms from the story which adds a nice touch as Irene does so well.I highly recommend this to anyone wanting a nicely written romance.
