Maggie's Dad - Diana Palmer

From the editor "Book #1000?! In February, 1982, when Silhouette S[ecial Edition was first published, that seemed a far distant goal. And now, almost fourteen years later, here we are!" Maggie's Dad is 1001. I wonder where Silhouette Special Edition is now?

I had already read the follow on book to this one, Man of Ice, and until someone blogged this book, I didn't know there was more. This book was very sad in some ways with the amount of misinformation and lies of long standing out there. It had my happy ending, but it took some serious sadness to get there. I wish we all could have read Sally's letter though, as she sure ruined or near ruined a lot of people in her drive for what she wanted.

and I couldn't put it down .... but I had a really hard time with Powell's treatment of Maggie ... or the way Maggie perceived that treatment ... Powell was such a ruthless, angry hero  ... it seemed he treated Maggie with contempt .... and no child deserves that

what redeemed him was the glimpses DP gave us that he actually was an caring father in his own way ... always checking how his daughter's day went and going to bat for her when she complained about trouble in school .... but the pain that child felt ... having the book written in the three POV's .. Powell's, Antonia's and Maggie's ... made for an emotional read

Man of Ice was another really hard read .... all the emotions come into play with that one

Years

It's been years and I still remember the saddness I felt when Maggie admitted she had no other clothes to wear.  It just broke my heart.

I agree

and then to read some of the blogs about DM's heros getting really mean again is hard for me. Her characters are always so strong and really pull emotion from the story and the reader too. They can be hard reads, but I really enjoy her writing
