Bruce and Karin meet when he (a Detective) comes to her counseling center to give a self-defense course. When one of her clients is attacked by her ex, Bruce investigates and in doing so grows closer to Karin. However, can Bruce a child of abuse ever move beyond his own childhood and accept a future with Karin or will the past trap him? I love JKJ’s writing, in this story, she does an excellent job portraying the cycle of abuse and how our childhood affects our future. In working as a Detective, Bruce is constantly faced with the issues of domestic abuse, so it is easy to see how difficult it must be to move forward. Another Excellent Book, highly recommend.
