As the book starts, Gabe Sanchez has just found his estranged wife Leigh O'Brien and pulled her out of a lake where she was bound and drowning after having been shot and clubbed in the head. Leigh and Gabe were both working for the FBI and she disappeared 2 years ago after she got involved with a case where she uncovered corruption in the Justice Department and almost got killed, and Gabe has been trying to track her down ever since although he vows not to get involved and be hurt by her again. Now that Gabe has Leigh safe, it becomes apparent that she's actually not safe, as armed men storm the clinic where Leigh is being treated, etc. But Leigh has amnesia and cannot help him figure out what's going on...and until they know they can't trust anyone.
I can't really say too much about the plot cuz the way it reveals it would really be all spoilers - just read it instead.
So I think I like Delores Fossen! Intigues aren't really my thing - I usually just get my sister's leftovers since she loves them, but these last two by Fossen have been very enjoyable - her writing style, characters and plots just seem to work for me. I didn't even flag a single page in this one for problems. :) Although amnesia plots can be annoying to me, this one didn't bother me at all, and I think it even helped when it came to revealing the secret baby (spoiler, but it's given away on the back of the book). I like Gabe and Leigh and would've loved if this was a full length novel where we could've really got into all their backstory and HEA!
