Matchmaker Gets Her Own in Personal Touch
The Personal Touch
I really loved this book. I was completely thrown off by the first scene with the Hero, Clint, having a crazy hot time with a model. My first thought was, "are you kidding me? This can't be the hero and heroine!" Luckily it wasn't. I'm never one for drop-dead gorgeous models. I really appreciate the heroine who feels like she is an average girl but is seen in the eyes by the hero as the most beautiful person he has ever met. But wow, I was loving the fact that I was laughing out loud in the first chapter because the hero's mother walks in and interupts a very hot scene. Add to that the fact that the model had a real issue that the hero's mother lived with him in a 5000 square foot house was even funnier. I know there really are selfish and stupid people like that everywhere.
I also loved the fact that the hero's best friend, without saying it was his office manager. If I had started reading this book without reading the description first, I might have thought that, perhaps, they were meant to hook up. It's a trite plot for sure. But I just wasn't sure how he was going to meet the mother's matchmaker. Enter, the office manager. What are best friends for right?
This book had me guessing and wondering how on earth they were going to get together early on. But it did become predictable in many ways. The heroine dating the stupid guy and finding him with another woman seemed predictable to me. Sorry, but it did. I knew something was up when we just didn't see them together. Perhaps that was the author's plan.
All in all, this was a great read. I was kind of let down by the ending. I actually wanted her to go looking for him at the vacation spot and the office manager to spill the beans. I didn't want her to find him at home. I really wanted her to go after him and not give up which is where she was headed but was so damn lucky he was waiting for her.
Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed this book but as I think about it, this is just my wish on how things might have been different. Guess that is why I want to get my books read. In fact, I look forward to someone saying something just like this about something I wrote. If everyone agrees with me, then we wouldn't have so much to choose from as far as variety goes.
