McKettrick's Luck by Linda Lael Miller-HQN-2007

#35-Cheyenne Bridges swore never to return to Indian Rock,AZ,but her boss has her in charge of persuading Jesse McKettrick to sell some of his land so condominiums can be built there. She,her mom,Ayanna, and her brother,Mitch(who is in a wheelchair thanks to an accident)are moving into her gram's house which isn't a pleasant event for any of them, but out of necessity it has to be.

Jesse and Cheyenne had dated awhile ago-he lost interest but she never did. They met again as he was leaving the bar & grill, then they went to the Roadhouse where she mentioned plans. He agreed to look at them if she would come with him next day to look at the land. Chey arrived but not in proper wear to ride a horse so Jesse let her borrow some of his mom's jeans and shirt. All went well until she mentioned about damming the creek and making a lake

Cheyenne's boss,Nigel doesn't make it easy on her by constantly badgering her on the phone, then a visit with a new vehicle for her,and finally even blackmail when she and Jesse get closer as friends.

Mitch and Cheyenne both are given jobs at McKettrick Co. which proves to be interesting for Chey, but is helpful when she no longer has her former one.

One statement Jesse made to Chey really impressed me-'We've all got a part to play when we come into this world. Nobody gets to approve the script." Made me stop and do some thinking, how very true!

I decided to read the trilogy of the McKettrick men from my TBR pile over the holiday weekend and must admit,I was transported to Indian Rock and the lives of the families there. When I finished this one I had to go onto the other two right away so I could savor the time with them.

Yes,Chey and Jesse end up together but she finds out life with a McKettrick man is a challenge, but when they are serious about their woman, she has everything she could ever want or need.

I enjoyed this book a

I enjoyed this book a lot---the whole trilogy in fact. I loved the way she put animals into her stories.  I can tell she is an animal lover even before I read about her charity work.

They are worth trying

Debbie, I think you might like them. They make me wish I was there to share in all the mayhem that seems to revolve around the McKettrick family.
