With the M.D… At the Altar? (2008) by Jessica Andersen (HI # 1068)

Small Town doctor Roxanne Peters had placed a call in for help to the CDC team to control the current outbreak of an unknown and deadly illness that was ravaging her town. She meets the team when Luke Freeman, the team’s lead doctor, saves her life from a deranged patient of this same illness. Roxanne and Luke have a past together that was ended very abruptly; in a manner that does not reflect at all well on Luke. The CDC team quickly sets to work, with Roxanne helping. The chemistry between Luke and Roxanne is still obvious but so is the seeming differences that helped break them apart. With a big portion of the town out of commission the pressure is on the doctors to find an antidote before it is to late. Some unknown person is just as determined to keep everyone away from finding out anything. And Luke and Roxanne are drawn together again, despite what they think they know are permanent barriers to a HEA.

The book was good and the different mysteries do draw you, as well as the local curse. However even though some of Luke’s thoughts are revealed and his behaviors explained I am not quite sure I totally trusted him and his character. That he was willing to try yes but I still could not totally forget some of what was shown about his character from earlier, and some present, actions. I still liked the interaction of these two though, both as doctors and on the personal level. The main mystery holding this series together was still going strong as well as a few threads that will need to be followed in future books. Undecided
